2. EGE R&D AND TECHNOLOGY DAYS

'University Patents Transforming into Value'

2012 main theme of the activity, which is organized by Ege University Science And Technology Centre (EBİLTEM) and supported by our Foundation, was Transformation of University Patents into Value. 2. EGE R&D AND TECHNOLOGY DAYS was organized in İzmir in December 28-30 2012.

Through AREGE, it was aimed to evaluate university patents and introduce patents, which can be commercialized, and utility models to industry and investors by bringing different sectors of the society together.

Following the opening speech of Ege University Rector Candeğer Yılmaz, the Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Nihat Ergün emphasized that high technology product export must be increased through teleconference and said: 'We want to become one of the largest economies of the world. Therefore, we have to increase the share received by R&D activities within the national income up to 3%. Before, R&D expenditures were around 0.5%. Now we have caught 1%. While doing this, we also must increase high technology product export from 5% to 20%. We continue our works as the ministry for achieving this.'

In AreGE2, while participators were informed regarding patent processed through parallel activities of 'Patent Tent', 'Patent Tunnel' and 'Patent Workshop', first steps patent researches were taken together with experts through one on one interviews. Participators, who made to the finals with the Patented Projects competition organized within the scope of the activity, presented their patents to angel investors with the concept 'Treasure Island' and competed for receiving investment to their projects.

There were 129 applications in 79 different areas from 42 different universities and they competed for the award of the Elginkan Foundation valued at 35.000 TL. Finalists, who gathered under three different categories, received their awards.
